Who Does What During the Wedding Preparations?

 

Chief Bridesmaid Duties

- Arrange the Hen Party

- Help to dress the bride and make her perfect on her wedding day

- Meet the bride at the door of the civil ceremony or church

- Organise the other bridesmaids

- Arrange the bridal veil, straightening out any escaped hair etc on the bride before she walks down the aisle

- Look after the wedding dress once the bride has gotten changed either in to her reception clothes or her honeymoon outfit

 

Best Man Duties

The best man has 7 major duties to perform to fulfill his role of Best Man:-

- Help the groom to choose and organise his ushers

- Organise the grooms' Stag Party and make sure that he arrives home afterwards without too many mishaps

- Help the groom to get ready on the morning of the wedding, ensuring he arrives at the ceremony venue in plenty of time

- Look after the wedding rings and hand them to the groom at the appropriate time during the ceremony

- Organise the transport for the guests from the ceremony venue to the reception venue

- Make a speech at the reception. Co-ordinate any other speeches and the cutting of the cake with the toastmaster or master of ceremonies.

- Make sure that the newly married couple leave the reception on time

 

Ushers Duties

For a wedding of around 100 guests, there should be at least 4 ushers to help with the running of the day:-

- One to give out service sheets to guests

- One to stand at the foot of the aisle to direct guests to their seats (Brides family and friends on the left, Grooms family and friends on the right)

- One to help guests to their seats

- One to escort the Mother of the Bride to her seat
